And Olaf's comment about not being able to read or spell was so random and pretty great too. I think it's inevitable that there will be a second "Frozen" film at some point and I hope the include them there as well. What I liked most about it are all the tiny snowmen coming out of Elsa's mouth. These 8 minutes have some decent comedic moments and the drama about Elsa's cold is nicely chosen, but not too severe for such a short film. There is a reference to the famous song from the film as well (check my title) and in general there is at least as much singing than talking in this movie, maybe almost a bit too much for my taste. And also the not-so friends appear again in this film, so that you get basically all the important characters from the film, which is always nice, even if it is just for a very short moment like the sauna owner. The story is basically Elsa preparing the perfect birthday for her sister Anna with the help of all their friends from the feature film. And while I was not totally won over by it, I was not disappointed either. I really enjoyed the movie "Frozen", so I was looking forward to this short film for a while. The original voice actors return and bring the same amount of energy and charm they brought in the film. Nothing to complain about the characters either, all of them great characters anyway and in Frozen Fever they have everything that was so winning about them in the first place, the only change is Elsa and it was one that made perfect sense and necessary. Anyone who has a sister or more that they love to pieces will really identify with them here. It was a wise move focusing as well on the sister relationship between Anna and Elsa, that was very well done and had a lot of heart. While it's a potentially thin story with not an awful lot surprising the story was really charming with a good deal of funny- especially with Olaf- and touching moments, not to mention it was cute(not only Sven but especially the snow creatures). The dialogue is very funny without trying too hard to be so(Olaf in the ice palace introducing each of the snow creatures by name is hilarious) and also shows an emotional core without being cloying. The rest of the music fits very well.įrozen Fever's writing doesn't disappoint. Making Today a Perfect Day is a very good and catchy song that puts a smile on one's face, not quite on the same level as Let It Go but it stays very true to the style of the songs in Frozen(no surprise as the same composers were involved) and is certainly memorable. The animation is not quite as polished as in the film but it is still beautiful with lots of attention to detail in the backgrounds and care in the character designs put into it, the rich and sumptuous colours are easy on the eyes too. Just as if went perfectly with Cinderella, the feature film it accompanied, which I also loved. Meanwhile, Olaf has taken the tiny snow creatures under his wing and takes them to Elsa's ice castle with the help of Kristoff. It is a big hit, and at last Anna manages to convince Elsa into letting her to lead her to bed and take care of her. After some near-misses, a very exhausted Elsa finally makes it with Anna to the courtyard where the party has been arranged. She starts sneezing and produces a group of small, cute snow people, much like Olaf, with each sneeze. However, after planning the huge party and as Anna is being led on a "party treasure hunt," Elsa finds that she has caught a cold. It's Anna's birthday and Elsa plans to throw her the perfect surprise party with the help of Kristoff and Olaf.
